অঞ্চল ভিত্তিক বন জরিপ

 

 

Several forest inventories were conducted in different forests in different time of the country. These were mostly focused for determining growing stocks, extent of forest cover to prepare the forest management plans. Short description on the past inventories has been provided in the following sections. 

 

 

Inventories conducted in the Hill Forest of Chittagong,  Cox’sBazar, Sylhet District and Kassalong, Rankhiang, Sangu-Matamuhuri and Sitapahar Reserve of Chittagong Hill Tracts District

 

Inventory on the hill forest of Chittagong district was conducted during 1984 under the technical assistance and funding by FAO/UNDP. Later, inventory was conducted during 1996 under World Bank Funded ‘Forest Resources Management Project’ (FRMP) with the financial assistance of World Bank.

 

Inventory of the hill forest of Cox’s Bazar district was done in 1984 under the technical assistance and funded by FAO/UNDP. Further detailed inventory was conducted under a Forest Resources Management Project of Forest Department in 1996 with the financial assistance of World Bank.

 

The hill forest of Sylhet region was inventoried during 1987. The inventory was conducted under FAO/UNDP funded Assistance to the Forestry Sector – phase II project. Next field inventory was conducted during 1996-97 under World Bank funded ‘Forest Resources Management Project’ of the Forest Department.

 

There are three main forest reserves in Chittagong Hill Tracts. They are Kassalong, Rankhiang and Sangu-Matamuhuri Reserve. Detailed inventory was conducted within Kassalong and Rankhiang reserve forests during 1961-62. In 1983 - 84 the FAO/UNDP Project ‘Assistance to the Forestry Sector of Bangladesh’ re-evaluated the forest situation in Kassalong, Rankhiang reserves. Sitapahar reserve was inventoried under FAO/UNDP Project BGD/79/017 in 1983 - 84.

 

 

Inventories conducted in the Sal forests of Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensing, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur Districts

 

The sal forest areas are found in Dhaka, Tangail and Mymensingh Forest Divisions with smaller patches in Dinajpur, Rangpur and Rajshahi Divisions. Inventory was carried out during November 1999 – May 2000 in the sal forests and immediately adjacent areas under ADB funded ‘Forestry Sector Project’ of Forest Department.

 

 

Inventories conducted in the Sundarban Reserved Forest

 

Several inventories were conducted in the Sundarban Reserved Forest in different time. Inventories of the forest resources for the forest have been made since 1931 under different projects and programmes. A detailed inventory was carried out during 1958-59 under Forestal Forestry project of Forest Department. Next detailed inventory was conducted during 1982-83 under Overseas Development Agency (ODA) project. Further detailed inventory was conducted in 1996-97 under a World Bank-funded Forest Resources Management Project (FRMP).

 

 

Inventory conducted in the Coastal plantation areas of Bhola, Barishal, Patuakhali, Barguna, Noakhali, Chittagong, Cox’sbazar district

 

Inventory in the coastal plantation areas was conducted during 1996 - 97 to assess the volume at the Coastal Forest Divisions of Forest Department under World Bank funded Forest Resources Management Project (FRMP).
